Cat-scratch disease presenting as the oculoglandular syndrome of Parinaud: a report of two cases.

چکیده
Cat scratch disease (CSD) is usually a mild selflimiting illness characterized by regional lymphadenitis occurring 2 to 3 weeks after an injury to the skin by a scratch from a cat. Recent evidence describes small, pleomorphic Gram-negative bacteria as the causative organisms.'`4 The main proponents of this hypothesis attempted to fulfil Koch's postulates in an animal model (armadillo), though only skin lesions and not the full picture of CSD resulted. We report the case histories of a 50 year old man and his 14 year old daughter who presented with the oculoglandular syndrome of Parinaud caused by CSD.

Ophthalmia nodosa and the oculoglandular syndrome of Parinaud.
We present a case of ophthalmia nodosa and Parinaud's oculoglandular syndrome in a patient scratched by a cat six and a half months previously and who gave a positive result to an antigen test for cat scratch disease. In conjunctival swabs were also found urticarial hairs, tracheal fragments, processionary caterpillar oenocytes, and a grain of pollen. The pathogenic part played by each of these...

Before 1983 physicians diagnosed cat-scratch disease by its clinical manifestations and a positive Hanger-Rose skin test. Three out of four criteria, as outlined by Warwick, 1 were required for diagnosis. In 1983 Wear, et al.2 reported that they found gram-negative pleomorphic organisms using the Warthin-Starry stain on lymph nodes from patients with cat-scratch disease. The organism was then i...

Parinaud oculoglandular syndrome (POGS) is an ocular granulomatous inflammatory condition characterized by unilateral follicular bulbar or palpebral conjunctivitis. Although POGS often presents as an atypical manifestation of cat scratch disease (CSD), other infectious and autoimmune etiologies have been described. Due to the rare nature of this ocular syndrome and scarcity of literature on thi...

● RESULTS: A number of novel Bartonella species have been identified over the past decade. Of these, Bartonella henselae, the etiologic agent in cat scratch disease, is most often associated with ocular complications, which may include Parinaud oculoglandular syndrome, neuroretinitis, and focal retinochoroiditis. Although cat and flea exposure appear to be the main risk factors for contracting ...
متن کاملA serologically proven case of cat-scratch disease presenting with neuroretinitis.
Cat-scratch disease is a clinical syndrome that usually presents as a self-limiting illness featuring regional lymphadenopathy, fever, and small skin lesions in association with a cat scratch or bite. It is caused by the Gram-negative bacillus Bartonella henselae, which commonly affects children and young adults. Ocular bartonellosis is the most common atypical manifestation of cat-scratch dise...
